The Bible says that God laughs. God truly has a sense of humor. Think about it! When Jonah disobeyed God, and thought he could go so far as to try to leave the presence of The Lord, that Jonah got on a boat and went as far away as he thought he could. He was willing to go all the way over to modern day Spain! Jonah caught the first boat out of Israel to go all the way to Spain; because he did'nt want to do what God said! Jonah was scared to go to Nineveh. Jonah knew that humanly speaking he could get killed, because of being a Hebrew. Look at The first chapter of The Book of Jonah. Jonah was not rebellious but just frightened and was not trusting The Lord for The Lord to protect him; nor realizing that if Jonah himself obeys The Lord what glory would come because of his obedience.
When Jonah got on that boat to go to Spain,, he was completely calm and and laid down and went to sleep. In the meanwhile, God spoke to a Big Fish. Now imagine what God must have said to that fish as He swam! "Now, Big Boy! Instead of eating more fish, I created you, and I'm about to save a man from his own selfishness! Big Boy, I love him, like I do you, but Jonah needs to learn to obey, so when those men throw Him overboard, I want you to be there to save him from himself! Remember Big Boy! He's not your food! He's MY servant! He's not food! Don't eat him; so just swallow Him! Thank you!"
Imagine that storm God created, and Jonah's laying there while those men are panicking! Those men knew exactly that Jonah was disobeying God! Those men decided they'd get rid of the problem, so they threw him overboard!
Imagine Jonah's thoughts !!!Oh my goodness! I'm dead meat now!" God had that fish swallow Jonah, and Jonah prayed some beautiful heartfelt prayers , and asked God to forgive him of being rebellious and scared to trust Him. Then God had the fish throw him up after three days. imagine the indigestion that fish had!
Life is hard, and we need to find humor in life, even when things look the darkest because laughter is great medicine."
